Sustainability calls for timelessness and the latest – Fagerberg fixes both.
Hylte Paper
To Fagerberg, sustainability means selling premium products and securing efficient process flows. The company delivers that to Hylte Paper with modern services that change the playing field – and a flow meter that has been in place since the 1980s.
“Fagerberg has quite a lot,” says Ulf Höglund at Hylte Paper. He talks about how they traditionally bought valves and flow meters from Fagerberg and how services like valve refurbishing, product training, and calibrations have grown in importance.
With his focus on instrumentation, Ulf Höglund claims that today’s instruments are better than yesterday’s in every way except one—the service life. Today, manufacturers can pretty much set the length of the service life beforehand, and then the products function that long. In the past, this was not possible, and that’s why many older products work longer.
Long service lives are vital from a sustainability perspective, given the environmental impact of producing products. A foundation in Fagerberg’s sustainability efforts is that products, besides high quality, should be suitable for repairs and upgrades rather than being replaced. There’s an excellent example of this at Ulf Höglund, a Krohne TIV 50 that’s been in place since at least 1988–89. A tried and tested technology inside the flow meter still contributes to business-critical and high reliability.
Of course, there is mechanical wear and tear, and Ulf Höglund appreciates how Fagerberg handles repairs and renovations when needed. What is also valuable to Ulf and his coworkers in maintenance is that technical support is rarely further away than a phone call. However, another fresh service makes him smile: verification and diagnostics.
Simply put, these produce fast, easily certified results with a limited effect on operations, contributing to a more effective and sustainable process for Hylte Paper.
“Fagerberg verifying instruments in assembled processes instead of forcing us to dismantle following a calibration schedule is vital. To continuously tear down processes is unthinkable nowadays, making this service a real game-changer,” Ulf Höglund concludes.
